The service of dental implantation is one of the main areas of focus for the Meerhof Dental Kliinik clinic. The experience that our implant surgeon Dr. Igor Tkachenko has, the application of the most state-of-the-art techniques, and digital dentistry, allow us to make new teeth for our patients quickly and with minimal trauma.
How dental implants are installed
Embedding of titanium rod into the patient’s jawbone to replace the tooth root and subsequent placement of a crown on it is called dental implantation.
This process can be presented in the form of several stages:
The implant surgeon examines the oral cavity and diagnoses the condition of the soft and hard tissues, and the adjacent teeth. He determines the presence or absence of contraindications for the treatment.
Computerized tomography of the jawbones and scanning are performed with the aid of the CEREC system. It allows for obtaining optical images of the dental arch, thoroughly planning and modeling the shape of the future ceramic crowns, and designing the perfect position of the implants in the program.
An individual surgical template is printed on a 3D printer and used to install the implants precisely into the targeted spot.
To make it pain-free, local anesthesia (an injection) is applied. For especially complicated cases, general anesthesia (narcosis) is used.
The implant surgeon makes a small incision in the gum, in the planned implantation area, and embeds a titanium rod into the osseous tissue. If there is not enough osseous tissue, bone grafting with reconstructive surgery of the soft tissues should be applied.
Often, there is not enough osseous tissue in the area of the missing back teeth in the upper jaw. To restore its volume, the technique of “lifting” of Highmore’s antrum, “sinus lifting”, is used.
In most cases, immediate implantation is done. After thorough planning, all the surgical stages are combined into one:
- Tooth extraction;
- Implant installation;
- Healing abutment installation.
The patient doesn’t have to undergo surgery several times. Such an approach makes it possible to perform implantation practically in any case.
The final stage of tooth implantation is installation of a crown or a dental bridge. This procedure does not take much time, but its importance cannot be overstated. High-quality dental implantation ensures the patient’s comfort and health for years to come.
Indications for dental implant installation:
- Absence of one or several teeth;
- Absence of all teeth (anodontia).
Contraindications for dental implantation:
We will have to put off the procedure or to use alternative methods of dental arch restoration if you:
- Display symptoms of blood-clotting disorder;
- Have a malignant neoplasm of any localization detected, undergo chemotherapy;
- Are diagnosed with respiratory and cardiovascular pathologies at the decompensation stage;
- Had a history of allergic reaction to local anesthetic administration.
