Memo to patients after caries treatment

  • Sealed teeth should be cleaned with a toothbrush and paste similar to natural teeth twice a day. After eating, rinse your mouth to remove food residue. For the cleansing of interdental spaces, use the oral irrigator, dental floss, or interdental brushes.
  • If bleeding occurs when brushing your teeth, you do not need to stop hygiene procedures. If the bleeding does not stop within 3-4 days, you should consult a doctor.
  • If after the filling and the end of local anaesthesia, the filling prevents the teeth from clamping, you should contact your doctor as soon as possible.
  • During the filling process, local anaesthesia is most often used, which lasts for several hours. During the action of anaesthesia, refuse to eat food, especially hot, to protect yourself from possible burns or injuries to the oral mucosa.
  • After installing a composite material filling, do not eat food containing natural or artificial colors (for example: blueberries, tea, coffee, etc.) for the first two days after filling the tooth.
  • In order to avoid chipping of the filling and of the hard tooth tissues adjacent to the filling, it is not recommended to take and chew very hard food (for example: nuts, crackers), or bite off large chunks (for example: from a whole apple).
  • Once every six months, you must visit the dentist for an examination. If necessary, carry out professional oral hygiene, grinding and polishing the surface of composite fillings (restoring gloss, eliminating edge pigmentation, sealing borders and cracks).

Regular preventive examinations can detect new carious lesions, including in areas adjacent to previously installed fillings. Treatment carried out at the early stages of caries allows you to completely stop the progression of destruction of hard tooth tissues.
