Appointment with the dental hygienist
The professional teeth cleaning procedure is usually painless and does not require local anesthesia. For the best results, we use the latest technology – Airflow® Prophylaxis Master. This advanced system uses air, water, a cleaning powder, or polishing gel, making the process more controlled and improving the overall outcome.
Professional oral hygiene consists of 4 stages:
- Diagnosis
The dental hygienist examines the oral cavity. A special gel is applied to detect plaque, tartar, and problematic areas, preparing the lips and mouth for further procedures.
- Teeth Cleaning with the Airflow® Max Nozzle
Next, the specialist removes plaque and pigment spots from the tooth enamel using the Airflow® Max nozzle, which uses a sodium bicarbonate-based cleaning powder.
- Teeth Cleaning with Piezon® Ultrasound
The Piezon® ceramic ultrasonic technology is then used to destroy remaining supra- and subgingival tartar in hard-to-reach areas with high-frequency ultrasonic vibrations. The procedure is comfortable and safe for both gums and tooth enamel.
- Teeth Polishing with Perioflow®
The final stage of professional oral hygiene is teeth polishing with the Perioflow® nozzle. It smooths the enamel where tartar was removed, restoring the teeth’s shine and smoothness.
- A pleasant feeling of freshness and cleanliness in the mouth
- Prevention of inflammation caused by bacteria (e.g., periodontitis)
- Longer lifespan for dentures and implants
Attention!
During the procedure, the dental hygienist thoroughly examines the oral cavity to identify any signs of possible diseases. An added benefit of professional cleaning is the early detection of cavities, gingivitis, and other pathologies. If necessary, we will refer you to a specialist (therapist, endodontist, periodontist, surgeon, or orthodontist). Understanding the condition of your teeth and gums helps you objectively assess the need for further treatment.
How often should you do Airflow teeth cleaning (indications and contraindications)?
There are no contraindications to professional oral hygiene. In fact, it is one of the most recommended procedures by dental associations. We suggest visiting your dental hygienist at least every 6 months.
Professional Teeth Cleaning at Meerhof Dental Center:
- Dental health care: Especially for those with extensive plaque buildup that is difficult to remove at home (for example, due to crooked teeth or braces).
- Excellent preparation before orthodontic treatment or the installation of dentures or implants. Cleaning ensures that the teeth are properly prepared for further treatment stages.
- A chance to regularly monitor the health of your teeth and any installed dental structures.
- Warranty: Professional teeth cleaning is a prerequisite for maintaining a 2-year warranty on all our treatments and dental structures after the procedure.
